Students who wish to take Basic and Intermediate Japanese Language Courses at CIRE in the Nishi-chiba campus during the Semester I, 2012 should register through the Web Registration System (https://jtest-chiba-u.jp/). Before you start, you should read the course description and user’s manual on the first page.

Registration begins on:
- Sunday, April 1 for Graduate students, research students, exchange research students, exchange students other than J-PAC students, specialized students and researchers.

Registration ends on:
- Monday, April 30 for all students and researchers.

All the courses start on April 12 (Thu) and end on August 1 (Mon). The course description in English is available here.

After the March 11 earthquake in eastern Japan we have been receiving expressions of concern from our sister universities overseas, our international graduates, and families of our international students. Fortunately, there was no major damage to buildings and other facilieties at Chiba University, which allowed us to start the new academic year according to the original schedule on the 11th April. At the beginning some of our international students who were worried about the situation in Japan chose to delay their arrival at Chiba University, but nearly all of them have already come back to classes and research. We are making every possible effort to ensure the best study and life environment for our students. As part of this effort Chiba University Radioisotope Research Center is continuously monitoring radiation levels on campus. The latest readings can be found on

【To all International Students】

Due to the major earthquake occurred on March 11,
there still are possibilities of aftershock for a while.
Though there is no severe damage or injuries reported in
campus areas, please continue to act carefully.
Also note the following.

1. Confirm the evacuation place in your neighborhood.
Ask neighbors for help when you evacuate.

2. Be prepared for the power outage. (We are expected to
experience the systematic blackout for several hours
a day to avoid power shortage.)

3. If you wish to return home temporarily, please speak to
your academic supervisor and obtain permission.
Also, report that to the academic affairs office of your
faculty/ graduate school before you leave.
　　Note that you must obtain a re-entry permit from the
immigration before you leave Japan in order to come
back with the student visa status.

　3月11日发生的东日本大地震，造成了巨大的自然灾害。千叶大学内虽然没有较大灾害发生，但仍会有强烈余震发生的可能性。
　请及时对应地震信息，并冷静做好处理。　　以下为紧急联络通知。

１）强烈余震再发生时，首选的避难场所为：就近的中学校、小学校以及市民会馆等安全的避难场所。寻求就近居住的日本人的帮助，在日本人的帮助下避难。

２）每天可能会有3小时左右的停电时间，做好相应准备（使用蜡烛可能会造成火灾，请切勿使用）。

３） 希望临时回国的同学，必须取得指导老师的许可，并向学部・研究科的事务室提出相应手续。另外，必须获有入国管理局的「再入国(さいにゅうこく)許可書(きょかしょ)」（紧急时，在机场也能申请此许可书）。

치바대학에서는 그다지 큰 피해가 없었습니다만, 앞으로도 큰 여진이 일어날 가능성이 있습니다. 정보를 확인하고 침착하게 행동하십시오.

이하, 긴급 연락사항입니다.

1) 강한 지진이 다시 발생하여 대피가 필요한 경우, 인근 초등학교, 중학교, 공민관이 안전한 피난처입니다. 근처에 사는 일본인의 도움을 받아 각 피난처까지 대피하십시오.

2) 하루에 3 시간 정도 정전이 일어날 수 있으므로 문제가 발생하지 않도록 사전에 필요한 준비를 하십시오. (단, 촛불은 화재 위험이 있으므로 사용하지 마십시오)

　3月11日に起こった東日本大震災では、大きな被害が出ています。
千葉大学では、それほど大きな被害はありませんでしたが、これからも大きな余震がおこる可能性があります。
　情報を確かめて、落ち着いて行動をしてください。

　以下、緊急の連絡です。

１）強い地震が再び起こり、避難しなければならない場合は、近所の小学校、中学校、公民館が安全な避難所です。
　　近くに住む日本人の助けを借りて、そこに避難をしてください。

２）一日に３時間程度の停電が起こりますので、困らないような準備をしてください（ロウソクは火災の危険があるので、使わないでください）。

３）一時帰国を希望する人は、かならず指導教員の許可を得て、学部・研究科の事務室に届けてください。
　また「再入国許可書」の取得が必要ですので、注意下さい（緊急の場合は、空港で、取得できる場合もあります）。

Guidebook for newly enrolled international students is newly uploaded.This guidebook is provided to newly enrolled international students. It contains some basic information about study at Chiba University and life in Japan.

Home visit programs coordinated by the Center for International Research and Education (CIRE) at Chiba University are offered to our international students every year to give them an experience of the life style of average Japanese families. Because of limited availability applications are processed on a first come, first served basis. If you want to participate in the November program, please apply as soon as possible.

PLACE・・・・・・・・・Chiba City and its vicinity
*Ten Japanese families will participate in the program in this semester. Participating students will visit families in pairs.
FEES・・・・・・・・・・ Free of charge, but participants will have to pay an insurance fee of 1,000 yen, and pay for public transport (bus/train).
